Trying something new...
I was trying to find a good apple scent earlier this year, and bought "hot apple pie" fragrance oil from a local vendor. I had planned to buy more green apple, but they were out. When I got home, I was disappointed to find that reviews online indicated that this oil may accelerate trace (make the soap set up too fast to work with) and that it may separate when cooled. That sounded terrible, so I chose not to use it. As I was cleaning out my EO and FO bin (essential oil and fragrance oil) yesterday, I saw it again, and decided to try it. I thought I would sprinkle in some copper mica to make it feel more "festive." I soaped at lower temperatures than normal and - it worked! It did accelerate trace, but did not cause a problem, and it didn't separate at all! It also smells AWESOME. I want pie now.
These are the molds I use. I line them with freezer paper. They yield about 11 bars.
